Berkeley Baroque Strings is a 30-piece orchestra of dedicated amateur string players. Founded in 2013, the orchestra presents three concert sets each year, and performs at the Berkeley Early Music Festival and at the Boston Early Music Festival. We play at Baroque pitch (A=415), with gut-strung instruments.
Our Music Director is renowned Baroque violinist Kati Kyme. Ms. Kyme is a founding member of the Cantata Collective and of the New Esterházy Quartet, and a long-time member of Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra. For many years she has directed string ensembles for the California Youth Symphony.
Ms. Kyme has guided Berkeley Baroque Strings since its formation, using her conducting and performance skills to create something very special for amateur players.
An affiliate of San Francisco Early Music Society, Berkeley Baroque Strings welcomes new members.
